Safer Cycling Hawke’s Bay

Safer roads. Healthier communities. More freedom to move.

Hawke’s Bay is a wonderful place to live, and as our region grows, I want to make sure it remains somewhere people of all ages can get around safely and easily.

Whether it’s children cycling to school, adults commuting to work or older people enjoying the independence of getting around on a bike, we should all have that choice.

Cycling should be good for our physical and mental wellbeing — something we enjoy, not something we fear.

I’m running an independent community survey to understand how people travel around Hawke’s Bay, what makes them feel unsafe and where we could make practical improvements.

This isn’t just for cyclists! I particularly want to hear from motorists, parents and people who don’t currently cycle. Your views are just as important.

The results will help identify opportunities for safer, better-connected routes and inform conversations with local councils about planning for our region’s future.

Have your say!

It takes just 3 minutes, and every response helps.

Survey closes 23 October 2026.

Thank you for helping make Hawke’s Bay an even better place to live.

About Safer Cycling Hawke’s Bay

Safer Cycling Hawke’s Bay is about making cycling safer, more accessible and more enjoyable for everyone in our community. We want to understand the experiences of people who cycle, as well as those who would like to cycle more but have concerns about safety. By listening to local voices and gathering community feedback, we hope to identify opportunities for positive change and help create a Hawke’s Bay where everyone feels safer getting on their bike.

Your experience matters. Together, we can make a difference.
